SILHOUETTE WEATHERCOCK WEATHERVANE
Late 19th – Early 20th Century

A hand-made iron body weathervane in the shape of a Weathercock. In early rural areas people dependent upon the knowledge of which way the wind was blowing. They either made their own weathervanes or hired a blacksmith to make them. This original small antique hand forged rooster weathervane is a classic silhouette weathercock. It is a wonderful folk art form with personality. This folk art weathercock is in very good condition and has a nice even weathered color with a mellow patina.
