HORSE and JOCKEY WEATHERVANE
Possibly W. A. Snow 1862-1940
Late 19th early 20th Century
American classic Trotting Horse and Jockey Weathervane constructed of sheet copper full-body figures. The jockey’s head is cast zinc having a cap and distinctive mustache. The likeness and the scale is wonderful. The horse is in a trot with a flying mane and tail, jockey is upright straight legged with whip in hand completing a very satisfying form having wonderfully delineated lines. Condition, weathered patina, and originality of this handsome weathervane was made in its day by one of the premier manufacturers (possibly W. A. Snow). This weathervane is a fine example that transcends American Folk Art into a piece of charming sculpture for any interior.
