VINTAGE NATIVE INUIT HUNTER
SOAPSTONE SCULPTURE
20th Century
The main focus of this 20th Century NATIVE INUIT SCULPTURE is in its art form
The Carver’s imagination has created a three
dimensional Art Object with uninhibited freedom.
The basic principles of artistic integrity and
proportion and presence. Showing every aspect
of the sculpture carefully carved and polished
such as the head dress to his hands,as well as,
the hunted caribou beneath his arms.
Inuit sculptures are personnel to each carver. As
tradition dictates, the whole act of living in
harmony with nature is their art. One can only
image that this carver believes there is a magical
significance to his Eskimo Hunter Sculpture,
possibly a tribute to the game he hopes to kill. The
magic through the sculpture becomes a symbol and
function designed for survival.
