STEER WEATHERVANE
Possibly L.W. Cushing, Massachusetts
Early 20th Century

American copper full bodied steer weathervane of classic form. The style is similar to many examples produced by weathervane manufacturers in the latter 1800’s. Its head is heavy cast zinc which provides a counter balance to move direction correctly with wind. The gilt surface likely dates to early 20th century and displays a nice natural patina. The hollow body form has wonderfully delineated lines and beautiful form.
The folk art appearance of this vane with its good color and condition will show beautifully in anyone’s interior.
