PAINT DECORATED SPLAY LEG WORK TABLE

The table’s basic form is derived from fairly standard 18th century cabinetmaking practices, but through ingenuity and whimsy its maker has transformed a ordinary design into something unique. The table combines both the naive and provincial which is brightly free-hand painted in a strong pattern without any academic rules. This table has a genuine folk art appeal. The makers unusual enthusiasm by covering its base surface with a brilliantly decorated whimsical design has created a triumph of virtuosity distinguishing this table in a class out of the ordinary. Few pieces of furniture so clearly reveal a sense of humor and satisfaction.
