FEDERAL BIRCH & BIRD’S-EYE MAPLE CHEST
New England
Circa 1790-1815

Upon first observing this Federal chest, special attention should be given towards its precisely balanced cabinetry. This Sheraton birch and bird’s-eye maple chest of drawers is totally refurbished and is in a very good state of preservation. The Rectangular top has a front reeded edge having cookie or turret corners. A Conforming Case is Fitted With four cock beaded long drawers centered by outstanding bold bird’s-eye maple fronts banded in mahogany. They are flanked by and supported with high reeded and turned legs terminating to balls. Below the drawers is a dramatically shaped front and side apron. The serene character of this Fine Quality Chest exemplifies North Shore furniture during the Federal Period.
