RARE PAIR ( Cornelius & Co.) CLASSICAL CANDELABRUM
Philadelphia, Penn.
Circa 1840 – 1850

A very rare pair of Classical five branch candelabrum in Indian Form also known as the “Warrior” model are attributed to Cornelius & Company. The native American holds a spear and is dressed in native attire. The figure is of an Osage Chief modeled after a Catlin Portrait.
Similar pair (only three Arm) are exhibited in the Philadelphia Fine Arts Museum Collection – other examples can be seen in Nineteenth Century Lighting – H.Parrott Bacot.
