CHIPPENDALE PEMBROKE TABLE

Circa 1780 – 1790
The stylish refinement of Pennsylvania Cabinetmakers is accurately and handsomely detailed in this Fine Quality Pembroke Table. In estate found condition, the table is constructed of a extraordinary dense mahogany with poplar secondary. Its single dovetailed drawer has cock-beaded edges retaining its original brass. Spiral-gadrooned edge moldings is a subtle enrichment achieved below the drawer and along the apron. The table is lifted on straight square legs with fluting, beaded edges and chamfer backs. Adjoining each leg the cabinetmaker has created a lightness & vigor of line in the scroll arched stretcher which provide foot room for the seating. Each element unite with the table’s small scale proportions and choice construction materials.
This little gem in very good condition creates a visual satisfaction that epitomizes the strength and understated elegance of the Chippendale Period.
