Ruth Reed Cummings (1900 -1975), was a NYS Folk Art Painter. She began painting in 1963 at the age 62. She was a folk artist in the true sense of the word. She received no formal art education. Childlike in design, her creations remained true to folk art’s qualities of simplicity, uninhibited composition, strong use of pattern and unrefined color.
