CHIPPENDALE TEA TABLE
Massachusetts
Circa 1780 – 1790
A richness of the fine selection of mahogany can be seen in the serpentine top with rounded edge. There is a unusual crisp carving on the baluster-turned pedestal, as well as, the bold acanthus carving on the upper surface of the legs. Its three arched cabriole legs flow downwards to claw and ball feet, all clasping a elongated ball. The tea table’s stance, harmony of parts, and over-all composition would make this a fine addition to anyone American Furniture Collection.
