CHIPPENDALE CANDLESTAND w/ DRAWER
Connecticut
Circa 1780 – 1800
The design of this handsome Candlestand provides as a reference to the stylish refinement of the Connecticut Cabinetmakers.
The stand has cherry as a primary wood. Its square single board top is above the original double-ended dovetailed drawer. A tapering shaft flows downward to a beautifully turned urn column. All is supported on finely shaped cabriole legs ending in slipper feet.
Together each element is proportionate to the stature of this Fine Quality Candlestand.
