FEDERAL SERVING / CHAMBER TABLE
Massachusetts
Circa 1810 – 1820
Upon first observing this Scarce Table, special attention should be given towards its precisely balanced cabinetry. Its beauty begins with the figured solid one board mahogany top with rounded-outset turret corners. The four turret legs below the conforming top terminate downward with ringed colonnettes to the frame and taper with reeding as they terminate to ball feet. The table’s case contains two drawers with flame grain maple surrounded by cock-beading retaining their original brass. Its mellow color and patina are serving to blend the drawers tiger maple patterns into a harmonious unit with a sense of stability and restrained elegance.
A Scarce American Form that would be a distinctive addition to anyone collection.
