WW1 ERA US NAVY ENLISTED JUMPER

Circa 1918-1919
Great vintage WWI era US Navy blue service uniform complete with jumper with iconic square collar, pants and flat cap for a seaman. This is a woolen uniform worn by enlisted men. The navy blue wool pullover jumper (top) with an elongated “tar-flap” collar adorned with three rows of white stripes and two white stars, one at each corner of the collar.
The finished cuffs with adorned three white piping white stripes same white piping along the classic Navy collar. Trousers are the traditional 13 button broad fall front opening. Also included is the flat US Navy flat cap that was discontinued in 1960.
This uniform does feature the “Hospital Corpsman” patch. Only members of the seaman’s branch wore rating badges on the right arm. The collars of the full dress blue overshirt for all enlisted men, other than chief petty officers, displayed three rows of white tape. The cuffs of petty officers were also decorated with three rows of tape.
Service Dress Blues were for male junior enlisted sailors and are based on the classic sailor suit in navy blue, colloquially referred to as “crackerjacks” because of the sailor-suited figure that adorns the packaging of Cracker Jack snacks
Displayed and presented in a approiate star studded customshadow box frame. A wonderful historical find and in like-new condition.
