VINTAGE NATIVE INUIT SOAPSTONE SCULPTURE
Circa mid 20th Century
A fine vintage Inuit soapstone carving by an unidentified artist. The soapstone has beautiful shades and many variations in color and lines that adds to the carved and incised details. The incised decoration around hood, cuffs, bottom of coat and boots are to mimic fur. Carving is a well detailed indigenous Inuit soapstone statue a young adult having a wonderful folk appeal to the Eskimo’s moon shaped face.
