SHERATON INLAID CARD TABLE
Massachusetts
Circa 1800 -1815

From the Sheraton Period in America this table qualifies as a very fine example. The table presents a bowed front and sides with blocked out at the ends. The blocked corners graciously present the outset columns that develop onto the ring-turned and reeded tapering legs. A wonderful design of contrasting figured mahogany panels flank a raised inlaid central panel. The variegated banding on the top edge gives movement to the table’s shape. A fine example both from the viewpoint of good proportions, its highly figured veneers and old surface color.
