HEPPLEWHITE CARD TABLE
Newport, Rhode Island
Circa 1780 – 1800
A rare Hepplewhite carved and figured mahogany serpentine-top card table. The front and sides are serpentine shaped with frames fronted with crotch mahogany veneer. The top edge is bordered by repeat vertical flutes. The apron is complemented with a chain carved border and pierced carved corner brackets. The underside is fitted with a rare small drawer behind the rear swing leg. The above are lifted by four tapered moulded legs. A very Fine and Rare Hepplewhite Card table.
