AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE LINEN PRESS
New England / Eastern Connecticut
Circa 1780

A rural small scale Chippendale Cherry Linen Press. Two-piece construction. Upper section has a carved molded edge cornice. Case has a pair of flanking recessed paneled doors revealing two interior shelves. Lower case has four drawers with press’s only embellishment of scribe molding around the edges of their drawer fronts. All is lifted on original ogee bracket feet.

This Linen Press’s proportions are wonderful for this period of time. The size is great for a period American linen press. Most are simply to large. It has been professionally refurbished and stands in excellent condition, allowing visual satisfaction which is proportioned to its stature.
