18th CENTURY DELFT POLYCHROME PAINTED CHARGER
Netherlands
Circa 1770
This Dutch Delft charger features a hand painted scene vibrantly colored. The center of the dished charger is painted with a peacock standing between stylized images of a fern, flower and a butterfly hovering above. The sloped rim is painted with eight alternating panels, butterflies and a abstract design creating a harmonious effect. In summary, the decoration is simple and unsophisticated yet a visually striking composition.
Condition is good, from this period of time.
