CLASSICAL LOOKING GLASS
English
Circa 1825 – 1835
In the 3rd quarter of the 18th century English glass houses discovered the technique of making convex glass which gave advent to the circular mirror. Cresting above is a large scale ebonized eagle which is centered by proportionate heavy scrolling. Surrounding the convex mirror is a reeded ebonized liner and applied gilt balls within the frame moldings. In wonderful original condition this patriotic Classical Mirror is a fine surviving example.
