CHIPPENDALE CHEST
Pennsylvania
Circa 1770-1790
A fine rural chest of drawers (possibly Chester County). Flat molded cornice above a dovetailed case of six drawers. Case is distinctly standing on a applied straight bracket base. A wonderful warm old surface add to the chest’s overall charm. A reserved richness can be seen with a nicely balance of proportion and the use of richly grained wood. The wood on the drawers contrasts brilliantly with the original brasses. A fine example of a “High Country” Chippendale Chest in wonderful condition.
