CHIPPENDALE SERPENTINE CHEST

A Fine Chippendale Mahogany Four Drawer Chest having clean American Lines and exhibiting the immediate sense of stateliness. As one of Massachusetts best late Chippendale designs this blocked end serpentine-front chest of drawers was professionally refurbished. The chest not only has excellent form with a 34 ½” case width, but also shows the makers development of its supporting members. Its blocked end reverse-serpentine front adds an effect of depth. The case holds four graduated serpentine drawers each is outlined by cock beading on the case as well as on the molding on the drawer dividers. There is a base molding below which has the sweeping form of the case. Supporting the above are high shaped bracket feet. Without any other appointments, an expression of opulence and dignity are shown in this chest ranking it high in terms of development and sophistication. The sturdy vigor of the Chippendale Period is accurately and handsomely detailed in this Fine Quality Serpentine Chest.
