AMERICAN MINIATURE WATERCOLOR FOLK PORTRAITS – SISTERS

A fine pair of strongly painted miniature folk portraits found in Maryland. Each are nicely executed watercolors on paper of sisters in very good condition housed in wonderful matching period frames. Seemingly, as seated in Classical Period chairs each with a book in hand, as well as, the fine detailing that abounds in their clothing and the accents of jewelry give a glimpse of the family’s status and wealth.
Each sisters is a attractive young lady with the latest hairdo, dressed in height of fashion in a stylish black puffy-sleeved dresses with a fringed shawl over their shoulders. Their jewelry includes a necklace, brooch, chain with watch and ring. They are educated, in opposite hands each holds a book. The miniatures offer a glimpse into the lives and social standing of the sitters unfortunately, both sitters and artist remain anonymous.
