RARE PEASEWARE MINIATURE FOOTED COVERED URN

A rare example of American Treenware. This fine maple miniature of a footed covered urn has wonderful turnings with exceptional proportions.

Peaseware, is the spindle-turned woodenware (treen) made by David Mills Pease.
He created a variety of treenware pieces from food containers to pill boxes and is noted for his exceptional turnings, varieties of finials and excellent craftsmanship.

David Pease (1815-1890) was born in Deerfield Massachusetts in 1815 and moved from New England where his family had long been in the lumbering, milling and furniture business to the Cascade Valley of Ohio in 1850. Records show this is where he establish his family home, and started his business of turning this distinctive style of woodenware.
