FEDERAL PEMBROKE TABLE
New York
Circa 1790-1810
This is a fine example of a mahogany Pembroke table. A New York example having a rectangular top with ovolo corner drop leaves on a straight skirt. All is lifted on square legs. Its top and D-shaped leaves are soild figured mahogany having a patterned inlay border with string inlay edging. This is resting above a conforming apron with a single long drawer at one end and opposite a matching blind drawer each having string inlay around their drawer.
The veneered drawer face has a simple oval patterned inlay as top. Each drawer is flanked by inlaid oval paterae on plinths. The apron’s skirt bottom has a intricate pattern inlay. The Square tapered legs are faced on four sides with line inlays that terminate to light veneer cuffs on the legs. This NY table has been professional refurbished which highlights the quality mahogany, geometric shapes and its inlays.
