A fine quality 19th Century American Genre History Painting. It is providing a popular and vivid depiction of mischievous boys in everyday life. The idealized subjects are a trio of young boys marching and celebrating the Fourth of July.

GEORGE COMEGYS
A genre, portrait, and historical painter. George Comegys lived in Philadelphia. As a youth, he studied under John Neagle & his earliest work is recorded in 1836.

The Artists’ Fund Society, Pennsylvania Academy, The National Academy of Design in New York, The Apollo Gallery and Association.
