The talented hand of Joseph Haskell, a accomplished artist, show an accurate representative accounting of Larnard and Sylvia who resided at Melrose Road in Auburn, New York. The Mann’s where historically important to te city of Aurburn and the Founders of “The Home in Aurburn.”

JOSEPH ALLEN HASKELL (1808 – 1894)

Joseph Allen Haskell was an American artist born in 1808 in Pittsfield, Mass. He was known for his portraiture work in upstate New York. Painting in Troy, N.Y. as early as 1829. In 1831 he went to New York City where he had a studio for 12 years.  Haskell exhibited his work at the National and American Academies. In 1844 moved to Ann Arbor, Mich. In 1846 to Marshall, Mich. Later returned to New York State settling in Syracuse wher he died in 1894
