QUEEN ANNE TEA TABLE
England / Ireland
Circa 1760
A sense of grace prevails in the design of this well proportioned mahogany Tea Table. The fact that molded edge rectangular top tea tables served more than a singular purpose is dictated and set forth in the design of this 18th century tea table . The tables deep frame rails was given mirror image working drawers on opposite ends. The overall intent was to have this piece used for serving as well as storage. The skirt edge has a most desirable ovolo shaped molding, working to perfectly compliment the slender cabriole legs. Its legs having pointed knees taper down to very slender ankles ending in small pointed slipper feet. Enhancing The table’s quality and refinement was the cabinetmakers use of beauty rich mahogany lumber.
The height of this table make it most useful in front of a sofa or between two wing chairs. This Fine Quality Queen Anne Tea table is pleasing when viewed from any angle. With a inventive spirit it was Professionally Refurbished within the 19th century. As shown, it is very compatible with anyone’s American Furniture collection.
