PASTEL PORTRAIT YOUNG BOY in BLUE

Circa 1840 – 1850

This profile portraiture is of an unidentified young boy with a rather glow to his facial features. Its dark background gives a two-dimensional appearance that contrasts with the convincing and skillful highlighting and modeling rendered in his facial features. A degree of refinement and subtlety is added with the pastel housed in a period lemon gold frame.
