CHIPPENDALE BRASS ANDIRONS
Philadelphia
Circa 1780-1790
A fine pair of Chippendale andirons with ball-and-claw feet. Adoring their well proportioned presents are swirled flames giving importance to the urns which terminate down a round column to a plinth. Below the plinths base are interesting small caps on top of legs. Following the contour of legs are outward spurs. All is lifted on ball and claw feet with detailed talons. Giving added importance to this fine pair of andirons are their log stops which are a miniature version of the front columns.
