LANDSCAPE PAINTING MOUNTAIN ROAD
Found in Pennsylvania
Circa 1840 – 1880
The rural nature of life was captured by this unknown artist. A attractive landscape that seems to celebrate the dominion of mankind over a small part of nature. Where within confined boundaries he has developed and tamed the wilderness. A simple triumph of man over nature. There is a man walking down a well traveled path with his dog towards a house with outbuilding and stonewalls in the background. The artist has a orderly sense of design and love of anecdotal detail.
Oil on canvas
