FOLK ART CARVING OF SEATED MAN
Found in New York State
First half 20th Century

A charming unique folk art sculpture depicting an older man seated in a windsor settee. This apparently happy figure is finely and naturalistically hand carved from a composition. Some incredible details, from his finely detailed face, hair, fingers, shoes and clothing.

This folk sculpture is in completely attic found condition, aged rich patina has taken place over all the surface. The man’s traditional clothing is tattered with arms raised and feet on ground. He does not set alone and needs support in settee (as shown with a ribbon holding him).

Overall this is a wonderful folk carving has loads of character and charm.
No restorations – exhibiting only the wear and patina associated with its age and usage.
