SLAVE DOLL – FOLK WOODEN CAVING

Circa 1860 – 1880

An interesting model with a primitive yet modern interpretation of a lady. This anonymous carver was able to communicate through the figure’s overall composition (frontal imagery, posture and contour) a feeling of stress and hope.
