CHIPPENDALE MIRROR / LOOKING GLASS

Circa 1770-1800

A very good Estate Condition antique Chippendale looking glass retaining an old if not original surface. The top crest has a central gilt motif flanked by scroll work of birds above is scrolled pediment centered with a shaped urn. Original mirror surrounded by a carved parcel-gilt liner and mahogany veneer molded edge. All is above a well transposed shaped and scrolled apron centered with a gilt motif. The stylized Scrolls are very attractive as they silhouette and enhanced by the applied gilt carvings. Overall the looking glass reflects a Fine State of Preservation.

Mahogany, veneer carved gilt wood and gesso; pine secondary wood.
Imperfections are minor and commensurate with age, gilt over painted, no replacements.
