This pair of candle sticks are composed of gilt sheet metal, gilt brass and glass. The sheet metal elements (cylindrical plinths and columnar stems) and the brass components are all in a mat gilt finish. The cylindrical plinths, columnar stems and the candle cups are all enriched with bright gilt bands. This sort of dished – down turned-leaf prism ring is seen on Boston-made girandoles.
