MAINE EIDER DECOY
20th Century

A unknown 20th Century carver has created this Eider Carving. In excellent condition this decoy is resplendent for its simplicity and balance. Through the soft curves and minimal features, we still get a clear vision of the decoy. Not realistic carved, this decoy still has a grace and delicacy that translates the realm of folk art within this sculpture

As found condition – no restorations
Height: 7 3/4″ Width: 12″ Depth: 6 ½”

The sea-duck common eider, “most easily observed because of its tendency to remain close to shore and its relative abundance, especially in northeastern North America. This cold ocean inhabitant is the largest duck in the Northern Hemisphere.”  Audubon*
